Golden Dwarf

The closing of the Short Film Festival Novigrad (FKMN) has been marked since the first year by the award ceremony for the best short film in the regional competition and the best short film in the international competition. After the three-day screening, the films awarded by audience votes win the Golden Dwarf in addition to recognition and sponsorship awards.

Audience Award for the best regional film

Film It's just a red color is the graduation thesis of the Croatian director Filip Dizdar. It is a short thriller with elements of action that explores the phenomenon of emotional dissonance and violence that is ubiquitous among the younger generations of content creators.

Audience Award for the best international film

Film Fruit of Love ("Paumo D'amour) by the director's team consisting of: Ian Halley, Nathan Hermouet, Luka Croisez, Laurène Vaubourdolle and Jade Van De Veire is a short, animated comedy with elements of romance. This superb animation was created by a group of french students attending the RUBIKA international school of animation.

Audience Award for the best regional film

Film Korak nazad ("A step back") by the young Belgrade director Sofija Nedeljković 

is a short musical with a nostalgic atmosphere about a girl who gets fired because of her pregnancy. This leads her down a path of bureaucratic and personal problems, forcing her to reevaluate her surroundings.The film was inspired by the biggest protest for women's rights on the streets of Belgrade.

Audience Award for the best international film

Short film At a Glance by the Dutch director Ruud Satijn is a drama about the search for connecting people from different social backgrounds, who are faced with the challenge of shaking off their prejudices. The film, which was created over a period of four years, completes its deep lesson with exceptional cinematographic quality.

Audience Award for the best regional film

Film The Verdict by Belgrade director Dora Jung.
In 2022, the first Golden Dwarf in the category of regional achievement, among numerous achievements from Croatia and Slovenia, was awarded to the only film from Serbia. "An anxious film, which carries a lot of suffering and unfortunately represents a part of the everyday life of many individuals.", Dora Jung.

Audience Award for the best international film

The Italian film Maria by the directing duo Alessandro Vazzoler and Matteo Saliva was shot in the city of Trieste. A film about the Istrian-Dalmatian exodus and life in a refugee camp. Apart from the fact that it is based on true events after World War II., the main protagonist Maria is exactly the person who experienced the told events.
